EuroClubdeJazz - "Hot Piano!"
Review - December 2003
Certainly, it’s different but, to be honest, it does get slightly boring
especially as there are 24 tracks on the disc – some lasting just over a minute,
others nine minutes plus. The complete disc plays for more than 76 minutes,
which is a nice change, or chore depending how you see it.
It’s a showcase album, with some numbers written by himself, but it’s doubtful
if the cigar-chompin’ showman – he has been likened to a cross between Liberace
and Vladimir Horowitz - can break through big-time as a solo artist. Oh, and
what is Claude Debussy doing on a ‘ragtime’ disc.
