The Review - March 2002
player for the last three years of The Joe Franklin Show was Mark
Birnbaum.
On Sunday, Birnbaum brought his act to the Metuchen Public
Library to performance music from the early 1900s. In this performance he
included works from Scott Joplin, Debussy, "Jelly Roll" Morton and Scriabin.
"I wanted to show the variety of music from that era, what was
going on in Europe and what was popular here. Even though these are diverse
styles of music, the more durable works tend to shake hands here and there," he
said of the day’s chosen pieces.
